At Coast Counselling, our Registered Clinical Counsellors bring specialized training and experience in reproductive and perinatal mental health, including work and training through BC’s provincial Reproductive Mental Health Program.

We offer individual counselling, couples counselling, and postpartum group support, with services tailored to each person’s needs and circumstances.

Our approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in evidence-based counselling. Depending on what brings you in, we may focus on emotional regulation, relationships, attachment, identity changes, grief, parenting transitions, coping strategies, or adjustment to major life changes.

We offer in-person counselling in Vancouver and virtual counselling throughout British Columbia. Virtual counselling can be especially helpful during fertility treatment, pregnancy, postpartum, or other times when attending in person may be difficult.

Individual Counselling

We provide individual counselling for adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, trauma, relationship concerns, reproductive mental health, perimenopause and menopause, and major life transitions.

Our perinatal and reproductive mental health work includes support for fertility concerns and treatment, including IUI and IVF, pregnancy planning, pregnancy and postpartum anxiety or depression, pregnancy loss and miscarriage, traumatic birth, PMS and PMDD.

We also work with dads, partners, and non-birthing parents who may be experiencing their own emotional, relationship, or identity changes during pregnancy and parenthood.

Couples Counselling

Barb Komar, Heather Awad, and Nishi Banipal offer counselling for couples.

Couples counselling can provide space to better understand patterns in a relationship, improve communication, work through conflict, and strengthen connection.

We work with couples navigating concerns such as communication difficulties, parenting stress, blended-family transitions, intimacy and sexual concerns, infidelity, financial stress, changing roles, and major life transitions.

For some couples, counselling is about strengthening the relationship. For others, it may involve making difficult decisions about whether to stay together or finding a more respectful way to separate.

Our work with couples draws from attachment-based approaches, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, and cognitive and relational approaches.

Postpartum Group Therapy

Group therapy for postpartum depression is offered by Heather Awad. For more information and registration, please visit
